Gol D. Rodžer, poznatiji kao "Kralj pirata", bio je najsnažnije i najozloglašenije biće koje je oplovilo Veličanstvenu liniju. Njegovim hapšenjem i pogubljenjem, Svetska vlada je uzrokovala promene širom sveta. Rodžerove poslednje reči otkrile su postojanje najvećeg blaga na svetu, One Piece-a. I upravo to saznanje dovelo je do Velike ere pirata. Ljudi su se dali u potragu poneseni snovima o beskrajnom bogatstvu i slavi, a vrlo moguće, i tituli Kralja pirata. Tu se pojavljuje sedamnaestogodišnji Manki D. Lufi, dečak koji ni po čemu ne podseća na klasičnog pirata. Za razliku od uobičajenih zlih pirata, koji samo žele da pljačkaju i uništavaju sela iz zabave, Lufija privlači pustolovina: pomisao na uzbudljive avanture koje vode do mnoštva zanimljivih susreta, i na kraju, naravno, do obećanog blaga. Idući stopama svog heroja iz detinjstva, Lufi i njegova posada plove Veličanstvenom linijom, proživljavaju neopisive avanture, rešavaj mračne misterije i bore se sa moćnim neprijateljima, sve kako bi došli do čuvenog blaga — One Piece-a!
